Overview
This vocational course is ideal for students who
want to work with young children when they leave school and gives a good foundation for college courses.
In GCSE Child Development students complete a comprehensive
course in the development of the baby in the womb, birth and physical, intellectual, emotional and social development up to the age of 5.
Students complete a range of practical short tasks in which they investigate and research a wide range of preschool issues and choices. Popular investigations include choice of books, safety equipment, nappy choices and local childcare facilities. An in depth study of the development of a real child over 6 months is also completed during Year 11.
