Overview

Citizenship has a major role within the school, as a curriculum, a GCSE subject and extra curricular influence. Within the subject students learn about the world around them and their place within it. We cover the main themes of Human Rights, Power, Politics & The Media and The Global Village.

Students study issues which affect them locally and globally and they start to understand the role they have to play in being able to influence these. Alongside the academic theory, students are taught to run a project to actively make a difference. This encourages cooperation, teamwork, responsibility and a social conscience.

Projects undertaken have included; a school based Manners Week, a Coast to Coast Cycle Ride for Charity, a Community Volunteering Project and a Recycling Fashion Show.
